Area of Interest

Upper GI surgery( esophagectomy, gastrectomy, fundoplication, cardiomyotomy), liver surgery for liver cancers, pancreatic surgery for pancreatic stones, pancreatic cancer surgery like Whipple procedure, distal & total pancreatectomies, surgery for weight loss( bariatric/ metabolic surgery like laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomies), liver transplantation. His key focus is on developing minimally access surgery in all the above mentioned domains and make it as the standard. Special emphasis is given on minimal invasive surgery for hernias (ventral, inguinal, incisional hernias) and also very complicated hernias by using techniques like component separation.

• First successful cadaveric liver transplantation in coastal Karnataka
• First pediatric major liver resection (right hepatectomy) on 4 year kid for hepatoblastoma
• Performed many complex multivisceral resections for various GI cancers including total pancreatectomies
• First complex ventral hernia surgery using component separation technique for a very high risk elderly patient hailing from UAE.
