Dr. E C Vinaya Kumar is a renowned medical professional who initiated the Cochlear Implant Program in South India in 1994. He has performed more than 1700 successful cochlear implant surgeries for children and adults, which is the highest number for a single clinic in the country. Dr. Kumar has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Philanthropy Award by the Australian Government in 2012, the Global Healthcare Equality Humanitarian Award by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin in 2019, and the Limca Book of World Records for performing 18 cochlear implant surgeries in a single day. He has also mentored cochlear implant programs across various states in India and pioneered work in the areas of rhinoplasty, anterior skull base endoscopic surgery, and bone anchored hearing implants.
