With over three decades of experience, Dr. Pratap Chandra Rath is one of the best cardiologists in Hyderabad. He specialises in complex and high-risk angioplasties and image-guided angioplasties (OCT/IVUS). To date, he has performed more than 100000 Angiograms, 50000 PTCA and stenting, 200 cases of Percutaneous Trans Myocardial Laser Revascularization (PTMR), 5000 valvuloplasties, and 1000 cases of peripheral, renal, carotid Interventions including ASD and PDA closure.
Dr. Pratap has many firsts to his name. He was the first to perform TransRadial Coronary Angioplasty and stenting in the Asia Pacific region in 1994 (Published in Indian Heart Journal and also reported in the Limca Book of World Records) and the first to perform Venous graft intervention using a protection device in India (published in Indian Heart Journal). He was also the first one to perform Drug Eluting stent in the Asia Pacific region. Moreover, the doctor has performed one of the highest number of Percutaneous Transluminal Myocardial Laser Revascularization (PTMR) in India (published in the Indian Heart Journal).

- Largest series of Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasty in the world using Bifoil balloon catheter (published in Journal of Cardiovascular diagnosis).
- First time performed Trans Radial Coronary Angioplasty and stenting in Asia Pacific region in 94 (Published in Indian Heart Journal also reported in the Limca book of world records).
- First time performed Venous graft intervention using a protection device in India (published in Indian Heart Journal).
- Performed one of the highest numbers of Percutaneous Transluminal Myocardial Laser Revascularization (PTMR) in India (published in Indian Heart Journal).
- First time performed Carotid stenting by using a protection device in India.(Published in Indian Heart Journal).
- First time performed Drug Eluting stent in Asia Pacific region. Selected by the Cardiological Society of India and delivered DR K. K. DATEY MEMORIAL ORATION at the annual conference of Cardiological society of India at Kolkata on 06-12-03. Zonal Coordinator, PTCA Registry, INDIA (1995-1997).
- Participated as a faculty in 25 National & International meetings in India, Bangladesh, China, Singapore, Europe & USA.
- Organized Five National meetings & Live demonstration courses at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad on Interventional Cardiology.
- Organized First Asia Pacific Transradial Interventional workshop at Apollo Hospital.
- Organized the First National Interventional Council Meeting of Cardiology Society of India at Hyderabad in 1999.
- Organized the Indo-French Interventional Cardiology Conference at Hyderabad in November 2000.
- Started Interventional Cardiology programme at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh and SCB Medical College,Cuttack,Orissa.
