Dr. Vijayakumar Raju, is a director of pediatric and Congenital Heart surgery at GKNM Hospital since last ten years. He is trained from ChristianMedical college and Hospital , Vellore , Tamilnadu. Afer completion of his Superspeciality training at CMC vellore, joined GKNM hospital in 2008. He was working as Juniour Cardiothoracic surgeon at GKNM till 2011.He went to USA for advanced cardiac surgeical fellowship . He spent two years of advanced cardiac surgical fellowship at MAYO Clinic , Rochester, USA. Then he moved to Boston Childrens Hospital, Boston, USA for one year of advanced fellowship on pediatric and Congenital Hear surgery. He came back to India 2014 and since then he is doing exclusive pediatric and Congenital Heart surgery in GKNM hospital, Coimbatore.

Pediatric cardiac surgery program at GKNM is one of the few centres in india who are partnering with Children Heart Link, USA. Pediatric cardiac surgery at GKNM hospital is also one of the volunteer sites which are entering all the surgical outcome to International Quality Improvement Collaborative (IQIC) iniative from Boston Children Hospital , Boston, USA
