Yoga:
Yoga is an ancient Indian physical, mental, and spiritual practice dating back to more than 5,000 years. The word means to ‘integrate’, ‘combine’ or ‘unite’ and it teaches ways of integrating the body, senses, life force, mind, and consciousness. Yoga is used to complement the healing processes of all treatments at Kalari Rasayana, which concentrates mainly on the practice of physical postures (Asanas) with an emphasis on meditation and Pranayama/breathing techniques. This type of yoga is light and accessible to all.
Meditation:
The wisdom of Ayurveda recognizes that addressing the mind, is the beginning of recovery and good health. Meditation is made a core part of the treatment at Kalari Rasayana, as a practice to strengthen and enhance the healing process and to calm and relax the mind and the body since they are closely tuned to each other. This helps to increase clarity, awareness of self, and positive energy. With meditation, your emotional well-being and overall health are taken care of. Keeping you centered, focused, and at peace.
Ayurvedic Diet:
Diet and Nutrition play an important role in Ayurvedic living. Ayurveda lays a special emphasis on Ahara (diet) and Anna (food) as a means to a good life, health, and wellness. The principles of dietetics and nutrition in the ayurvedic system of medicine include different classes of eating and drinking, information on wholesome and unwholesome diets, learning the discipline of eating, and more. All of these have been structured into 8 Ayurvedic principles of food called Ahara Vidhi Visheshayatana. These are Prakruti (Constitution of food), Karana (Processing of food), Samayoga (Combination of food) Raashi (Quantity of food), Desha (Influence of locality on food), Kala (Influence of season/time on food), Upayoga Samstha (Rules for taking food), and Upayokta Samstha (The one who consumes the food). The right kind of diet nourishes the mind, body, and soul.
Ayurveda asserts that although the digestive capacity of each person may be different, the quality and appropriate quantity of food is necessary for a healthy life. Food taken in proper quantity provides strength and nurtures the health of the tissues. At Kalari Rasayana, we strictly follow these tenets of Ayurveda, with the doctors prescribing an individualised diet based on the Ahara principles, the specific Doshas (Bio-energies) of each person and their specific medical conditions, and our chefs translate the prescription into each vegetarian meal using fresh, seasonal, and wholesome ingredients, including many that are grown in our organic garden.
