Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy for Uterine Cancer
Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, is a technique that allows the surgeon to see inside the abdomen and pelvis through narrow tubes inserted through very small cuts (incisions) made in the belly without making a large incision. Surgery is often the primary treatment for endometrial cancer and consists of a hysterectomy, often in conjunction with a salpingo-oophorectomy and lymph node removal.
If cancer has spread throughout the pelvis and abdomen (belly), a debulking procedure may be performed to remove as much cancer as possible. For women who were premenopausal prior to surgery, removing the ovaries will result in menopause immediately. This can result in hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. Mrs. Maxvomov Sevar from Uzbekistan underwent a Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy for uterine cancer at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Marda, Sr. Consultant Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon (Cancer Specialist).
