Prof. ParshotamLal Gautam is heading the department Critical Care Medicine. He established the department of Critical care Medicine in 2014 which is recognized well at national level. Department has advanced monitoring and management system including ventilators, bronchoscope, ultrasound. TEG etc for patient care. Department is running DM course in critical care medicine also. Earlier he was working as professor of anaesthesia in the DMCH. He did MD in Anaesthesia from GMC, Patiala. He did senior residency in cardiac anasethesia at AIIMS, New Delhi for a year and completed rest of senior residency tenure in general anaesthesia and intensive care at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He did his Clinical Fellowship in Liver Transplant anaesthesia from UWO, Canada for a year. He had been visiting physician as observer to Uppasala University, Sweden and Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. His field of interest is liver transplant, management of complex cases. He has special interest in “crisis resource management and patient safety”. He has written editorial, chapters and book “Beyond Clinical Skills” on team culture and attitude. He has delivered lectures and workshops on management of life threatening emergencies, difficult airway, mechanical ventilation, shock management, poisoning and teaching. He had more than 80 publications in national and internationals. He has contributed more than 10 chapters in text book and has authored three books
